Presentation
This tower, embedded in 19th-century buildings, is a vestige of the 14th-century ramparts.
Now privately owned, it was sold to the town in 1699 and used as an ice house for a few years: the ice collected was covered with straw and earth in winter to preserve it.
In summer, the ice is hauled up to the terrace by the farmer who holds the concession. Rectangular on the outside, circular on the inside, the tower is 6 m in diameter.
Access is via three wooden doors and an angled corridor.
In December 2014, the town bought the Picard house adjoining the tower (on the right-hand side), with a view to demolishing it in order to enhance the value of this vestige.
