Presentation
Château de Girard, in Mèze, is an elegant 17th-century wine château built around 1660 by the Muret family on a former tenant farm outside the town walls. Originally, it was a seigneurial residence linked to the economic success of winegrowers and merchants during the Grand Siècle in Languedoc.
Over time, the property passed through several families, including the Ronziers, then the Borie family, before being linked to the Girard family from the 19th century onwards; the town of Mèze purchased it in 1995. The château retains the image of a fine manor house dedicated to winegrowing, surrounded by parkland and winegrowers? houses built later around the estate, bearing witness to the local economic boom.
Today, the site is of interest to tourists for its history, its landscape and its location in the heart of Mèze, and hosts a variety of cultural activities and events.
